the ai hype cycle: new heights or just hot air?

founder, green daisy
hey everyone! sara craighead here, and today, i'm really digging into the current vibe in the AI space. it feels like every other day, there's a new funding round announcement or a super hyped product launch.
i'm seeing a lot of chatter, especially today, about the sheer volume of AI startups securing massive investments, alongside some pretty bold claims about their tech.
the investment frenzy
it feels like 2021 all over again, but this time, it's AI. the valuations are through the roof. it makes you wonder, is this sustainable? as someone who builds AI products at Green Daisy, i know how much genuine innovation takes, and sometimes, i worry we're confusing PR with actual breakthrough.
beyond the headlines
i'm not saying there isn't incredible work happening – there absolutely is. we're seeing some really clever applications of AI that are genuinely changing industries. but it's crucial for founders and investors to look beyond the immediate hype.
are these companies building real solutions to real problems, or are they just riding the wave of excitement around "AI"? i’ve seen too many brilliant ideas falter because the market wasn't ready or the value proposition wasn't clear enough.
what i'm telling green daisy founders
my advice to the founders i work with at Green Daisy is always the same: focus on value. focus on impact. the money will follow. don't get caught up in the race to simply announce big numbers. instead, focus on shipping remarkable products that truly make a difference.
let's build companies that last, not just ones that make a splash.
what are your thoughts? are we reaching new, sustainable heights in AI development, or is this just another bubble building up?
